ChiaBerry Ice Dream [Dairy free, Paleo, Gluten free, Grain free]

How can something this good actually be healthy!? A superbly decadent dairy free ice-cream dish that will not only satisfy your hunger,but is delicious, simple to prepare, and looks an absolute delight!

I’m not a big breakfast kinda person (unless I’m on holiday and there’s a Full English on offer… something flips in my brain and I turn into King Kong smashing my way through it!). Now, where was I? Bacon? Eggs? Oh right, back to this creamy, dreamy good-for-you breakfast treat! 

I’ve made dairy free ice cream before and it was sublime. So this morning, wanting something cold yet filling and delicious, I decided to make a chia-something-or-other. I tend to have at least 2 sliced bananas in the freezer at any given point purely for moments like these. Plus a bag of frozen berries (raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries) is always handy. I soaked some chia seeds in plain water 2 nights ago so that was already prepped and ready to go. All it needed was for me to decide how and what I was going to do with all these ingredients!  


Recipe for ChiaBerry Ice-Dream

Yield: 1 large or 2 small servings 

Prep time: 2 minutes (plus overnight soaking/freezing)

What you need

1/2 frozen banana, sliced 

1/2 cup frozen berries (I buy these berries)

3 tablespoons coconut cream

1/4 – 1/3 cup water 

2 tspns raw honey/sweetner (optional)

1/3 cup soaked chia seeds (AFTER soaking!) 

Berries/nuts to garnish 

What you need to do

The night before

1. Slice a banana, put it into a ziploc bag or container, and freeze. 

2. Soak 1/2 cup of chia seeds in about 1 cup of water (I prefer a thicker consistency that I can then adjust with more liquid when I need it). 


1. Put frozen berries, banana, coconut cream, water and honey (if using) into a blender. Blend until you get a smooth, ice-cream consistency. 

2. Layer the ice cream mix and chia seeds with a few more frozen berries, top with nuts/fruit of your choice. Done! 

With some prep needed, this is super quick and simple to throw together – and although I had it for breakfast, you can have this at anytime! Enjoy 😉
